Dolomites – Symbol of South Tyrol and UNESCO World Natural Heritage site
…and according to Reinhold Messner the most beautiful mountains of the world
"The Dolomites are unique from a geologic, botanic and landscape point of view, and are therefore not comparable to any other mountain range in the world."
With this verdict, the UNESCO declared the Dolomites a World Natural Heritage site on the 26th of June 2009.
Also Reinhold Messner, an internationally experienced and successful mountaineer, is convinced by the Dolomites: according to him the Dolomites are the most beautiful mountains in the world.
Bizarre, massif, impressive… from breath-taking beauty, world-renowned and one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe for decades…these words describe the Dolomites best. The renowned alpenglow at sunset
, the so-called "Enrosadira", is very impressive and a very special nature show
. At sunset the rocks get coloured from gleaming red to violet with increasing intensity.
